Anigrand Craftswork - 1/72 Dornier Do-29 Tilt-rotor experiment. In 1941, the Reich Air Ministry issued design study order to Focke-Achgelis for a fighter which would combine the VTOL capabilities of a helicopter. The Fa 269 full-scale mock-up was built to demonstrate the concept, but was destroyed by Allied bombing raids and all work was shelved in 1944. In the 1950s, a renewed interest in VTOL aircraft led to a re-evaluation of Fa 269 concept, and Dornier was given a contract to develop an aircraft capable of demonstrating the tilting-propeller system.
